Best Location for Your Photos

One of the first questions families and couples ask me is: “Where should we do our photo session?” And the truth is—there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. The best location is the one that feels right for you, fits your story, and keeps the whole experience enjoyable.
When it comes to families with babies or younger kids, my biggest piece of advice is to keep it simple. A beautiful local park, a quiet open space, or even a favorite little spot close to home often works best. If the drive is longer than 20 minutes, the kids might arrive already tired, and nobody needs that kind of stress. When we keep the location close and easy, everyone is more relaxed, and we can focus on laughter, snuggles, and fun.

For families with older kids, we can think a little bigger. Teens and preteens are usually more patient with driving and walking, so this is a chance to explore spots with a bit more character. Think golden hills at sunset, a trail with wide open views, or even an urban setting with interesting textures and colors. Older kids often enjoy having input, so letting them help choose the spot can make them feel more excited and involved in the session.
For couples—whether it’s a love story session or an engagement—there’s a little more freedom to explore. Mountains, beaches, vineyards, or even a hidden trail with rolling hills can set a breathtaking scene. It really depends on how you see your photos and what you want them to tell about your relationship.
Do you imagine cozy, romantic shots by the ocean? Adventurous, windswept portraits on a hilltop? Or something timeless among the vines? The location becomes part of your love story.

Here’s the secret: the place is important, but the people matter most. A simple park can turn magical when your toddler bursts into giggles. A wide-open beach becomes unforgettable when you’re holding hands with the person you love. A hillside feels grand when your teenager laughs in a way you haven’t seen in a while. And a local spot you pass by every day might surprise you in photos, because it’s filled with your real memories.
So when you’re choosing, think less about “the perfect backdrop” and more about what feels like you. Do you want cozy and easy? Adventurous and bold? Something meaningful to your family’s story? That’s where we’ll go—and I’ll take care of the rest.
